What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a procedure that can permanently remove fat from under the skin. During the liposuction procedure, fat deposits are mechanically broken up and removed with the help of vacuum suction. Our surgeons utilize the well-studied technique of local tumescent anesthesia. This technique greatly reduces pain and any potential bleeding complications. Liposuction may be done in most areas of the body and achieves permanent reduction of fat.

Good Candidates for Liposuction
You may be a good candidate if you are at least 18 years old, in good physical health, and bothered by excess fat located anywhere on your body that doesn't respond to diet or exercise.
Preparing for Liposuction
Prior to your procedure, you will be given a list of instructions to follow in regards to eating, drinking, smoking, medication use and physical activity.
Important Considerations
Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise. Liposuction is not an effective treatment for cellulite or loose saggy skin.
Cost of Liposuction
The cost of liposuction is specific to each individual patient due to the uniqueness of each patient's needs and desired outcomes. This is an elective surgery and is rarely covered by health insurance. The Drainless Aesthetic Institute offers several payment options including cash, check, and credit. Financing options are available!
Frequently Asked Questions
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes stubborn fat deposits from specific areas of the body using a thin cannula and gentle suction. It contours and refines the body but is not a weight loss procedure.
Common treatment areas include the abdomen, flanks, back, thighs, arms, chin, and neck. Multiple areas can be treated in a single procedure depending on goals and overall health.
Most patients return to work and light activity within 5-7 days. Compression garments are worn for several weeks. Swelling resolves over 2-3 months, with final results visible at 3-6 months.
The fat cells removed during liposuction do not return. However, significant weight gain can cause remaining fat cells to enlarge. Maintaining a stable weight preserves results long-term.
Recovering from Liposuction
After your liposuction procedure, you will be given a list of instructions to follow for your recovery.
You will be instructed to:
- Stay hydrated and move around throughout the day the week after your procedure.
- Most patients are back to work and daily activity in about 3 days.
- As your body ages, it is natural to lose some firmness, but most of your improvement from liposuction should be relatively permanent.
Following your post-operative care instructions carefully will help ensure optimal results.
